Who We Are

Launched on the Web in 2003, HIV and Single was one of the first HIV dating sites online. We are an international site with members from almost every country. We create an environment where HIV singles can find love, friendship and community without the fear of judgement, disclosure and being stigmatized. The website itself was built by a young man, who we will call Steve for privacy purposes. Steve does not have HIV, however his mother does and although the site was built by Steve, it was entirely his mom's idea. His mom, was diagnosed HIV positive in 2000, and was having a terribly difficult time finding love and friendship and often felt lonely, judged and afraid. Steve was discussing some internet business ideas with her, and she suggested to start a HIV poz match dating site. We quickly found out that it was something the HIV community desperately needed, because shortly after launching the site, membership skyrocketed into the thousands.

Over the years we have listened and learned from our members. We have learned the challenges that people living with HIV face on a daily basis, especially when it comes to dating. We've certainly learned that dating while HIV positive can be a tremendous struggle. We've used this input from our members to make the site better and easier for people living with HIV to find companionship. We've come a long way since 2003. Our membership has grown into the tens and thousands and there are now more ways than ever for HIV positive singles to find their "poz match" on the site.

We are happy with the results. We get letters daily from members about how they've found someone, thanking us for the site. We greatly appreciate this feedback as nothing makes us feel better than knowing someone who has struggled for years to find love has now found it, and perhaps we played a small part. This truly fills our hearts with joy - for this has always been our main goal.

At HIV and Single, we give positive singles the opportunity to express themselves through various free writing sections. Profiles may include an unlimited amount of photos and members can also upload videos and audio of yourself. There is an advanced search and match mail feature, offering over 30 different search options and match mail preferences. With the click of a mouse, members can instantly see photos and read about potential matches in their area. HIV and Single also understands the importance of privacy and integrity. Member profiles can only be seen be registered members, and they do not show up in any search engine results. We also manually approve every profile and photo to ensure they are real, legitimate people with HIV and not scammers. Members can also hide their profile at any time and still be able to search and look at other members. All communication between members happens through an “anonymous” email network. The names and contact information of all our members are kept confidential until the member personally decides to share the information with a potential match.
